All the work on this site is handmade by Felicity Jane Large
Felicity is an independent jeweller working from her cosy studio in Melbourne, Australia. Her journey began with studying Fine Arts at Monash University, majoring in Metals and Jewellery. She then returned to study, undertaking the more technical ‘Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology: Jewellery’ at NMIT (now Melbourne Polytechnic).
Felicity’s pieces all start life as a sheet of metal or length of wire. Hand fabricating pieces in this way, as opposed to pouring molten metal into a mould, makes for longer lasting pieces.
“I’m really passionate about quality. I like to know that the pieces I make can be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. Attention to detail is its own reward.”
With each piece being made in-house by the artist, this provides customers with a world of possibilities. Special commissions are welcome, where you can change aspects of a piece to suit your own personal style, or even design something from scratch in consultation with the artist.
“I love the dialogue between the maker and the wearer. Jewellery is meant to be worn and enjoyed. As soon as a customer buys a piece and takes it away, they write the next chapter of the story. They might buy a ring, and choose to wear it on a chain as a pendant. A necklace might be coiled around the wrist as a bracelet. Jewellery is a form of communication- both for the creator expressing his or her idea, and the wearer, using the way they style themselves to express their personality. I love being a part of this conversation. It excites me every single day.”
